What special maintenance is required?

No special maintenance is required. Our automatic control unit senses the temperature changes in sunlight and water temperature and adjusts accordingly. The system functions without the use of any additional electrical energy. Son Energy Inc. has a maintenance program that comes out and takes care of your solar systems needs, so you don't have to worry.

We prefer to install solar collectors facing south, but all directions will work, provided there is enough room for the number of solar collectors that you need. The installer will inform you after their initial consultation, and answer your questions.

How will the solar collectors panels look on our roof?

Roof mounted solar collectors are angled at the same slope as the roof. In the past, only "black" solar panels were available. Now, we have "terra cotta" and "gray" solar panels that blend with the tiled roofs that are so popular here in Southern California. From a distance, you can't even tell that you have solar on your roof!

Ground mounted solar collector panels can also be installed.

Please check our residential gallery and commercial gallery to see how it looks >>

Will I run out of hot water ?

No, because the temperatures from a solar water heater (reaches and exceeds 212° F) is much higher than a conventional water heater (120° to 130° F). Therefore, your existing water heater works very little compared to not having a solar water heater installed. You will be able to get more years out of your existing water heater.
